Who manages my money?
For retail managed funds a licensed Fund manager will be responsible for making decisions about where monies are invested, normally in accordance with a stated investment strategy.
The Funds Management industry is highly regulated requiring Fund Managers to be licenced under the supervision of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). Australia has one of the largest and fastest growing funds management sectors in the world. Its
growth is driven by Australia’s compulsory employer superannuation system.
As the Australian market has become more sophisticated over time and the investments of institutions and retail investors have diversified, the market has expanded, creating opportunities for fund managers to provide investments in new and niche areas such as infrastructure, debt, IT and emerging markets (both here and overseas).
